Mimili Maku takes its name from the maku or witchetty grub found in the roots of the witchetty bush (acacia kempeana). The art centre started up in 2004. In a short time, Mimili artists have proved a significant force in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara contemporary art movement.
