20 April 2023 Updated Ku Arts Statement

Updated statement 20 April 2023

Ku Arts statement re recent Australian Newspaper articles

Firstly, on behalf of the Ananguku Arts (Ku Arts) board our thoughts are with Anangu artists and community.

Arts kunpu, tjukurpa kunpu, walytja tjuta kunpu - Strong arts, strong culture, strong communities.

For 25 years Ku Arts has supported Aboriginal artists and art centres across South Australia and finds the claims made recently in the Australian Newspaper article about the APY Art Centre Collective of serious concern. These articles have been considered at a meeting of Ku Arts board members with the board’s focus being given to how Ku maybe able to support Anangu impacted by these issues, especially those who have publicly spoken out on the record for whom this must be a stressful time.

Ku Arts supports the 11 April 2023 Indigenous Art Code media statement encouraging people who have experienced issues related to the matters detailed in the Australian Newspaper to contact the Australian Competition Consumer Commission (ACCC) – Ku Arts understands that conversations with the ACCC are confidential.

Ku Arts is a 100% Aboriginal governed arts organisation that works to support independent Aboriginal artists and art centres across the breadth of South Australia with our Directors representing a diversity of language groups.

Ku Arts is not affiliated with the APY Art Centre Collective.
