Iwantja Arts and Crafts, Iwantja (Indulkana)

Iwantja Creek marks a place where Tjurki, the owl, rested on his travels. The community of Iwantja grew up on an excision of Granite Downs cattle station. Indulkana Arts Association started in the early 1980s. Artists did traditional wood carving (punu), batik, patchwork, tie-dying, and painting. Artists from Iwantja are increasingly receiving recognition for their acrylics on canvas.
