Kaltjiti Arts and Crafts, Kaltjiti (Fregon)

Fregon was established in 1961 as a cattle outstation of Ernabella mission, located beside a fresh water well on the banks of the Officer Creek, in rolling sand dune country south of the Musgrave Ranges 350km south-east of Uluru and 500km south-west of Alice Springs.

In the mid 1970s an independent arts centre began, with a distinctive ‘outstation’ style of original designs on batik silks and cotton lengths. More and more artists are choosing to work in acrylics on canvas while maintaining a committed group of designers in a range of media.
